Vixen laid an egg!

Out of the blue, Vixen laid an egg. It's about the size of a quarter, but she's laid two now. GO Vixen!

I didn't know they laid anything but regular eggs! Interesting...
I love your purple pansies.

Congrats on your egg. Mine laid a few really tiny ones but now they are all laying HUGE ones. They are all nine to ten months old now. They are however in their first molt so now I"m only getting 4-5 eggs when I used to get 10-11 eggs :(

They start out with tee-tiny little eggs. They are really cute. I've been taking all the banty eggs to Dad to boil and eat. Yummy! Eventually her eggs will get up to size.
I love the pansies too. They get so happy right about the time I give up on spring ever arriving. I'm actually getting ready to dig everything up and get my summer stuff planted.

Hey, breakaway! My big girls just turned a year old and are giving huge eggs. It's great fun! Vixen is a banty chicken, so hers will never get really big. They're still pretty sweet though. :) I have a couple molting on me too. Feathers everywhere!

Go Vixen! Nothing more exciting than one of your homegrown babies laying an egg. I tend to think, "Since I hatched it, it's going to be defective - oh, look at that, she works!" lol

She's turning into quite the egg machine out there! She already consistently lays an egg a day. They are still really tiny though. She's very militant about the laying too. For a while she was piling up behind Fifi the broody and laying them with her. Even when I blocked Fifi off, Vixen wormed her way in. Right HERE, by golly!
:)
