Mangy little babies

The last BBS ameraucana hatch has hit the mangy phase. Poor things look just pitiful! There are little feather stubs popping out everywhere.

The mama of this lot is actually a blue sumatra. She did a great job brooding the ameraucana eggs and has been a fabulous mama hen. All five of her babies are doing great!

They do go through such an awkward phase as those little feathers start popping out. Silly little things. :)
